Ration shop staff held for harassing woman during biometric verification
Chennai: A ration shop employee was arrested for sexually harassing a 27-year-old woman who visited a ration shop in Madhavaram to purchase provisions on Monday.According to the complaint, the accused, Nallathambi, 56 asked the woman to provide her fingerprint for verification. After stating that the biometric scan failed, he instructed her to move closer to register her fingerprint and iris on the device. When she complied, he sexually harassed her under the pretext of assisting her. The woman left the shop immediately and informed her husband. He went to the shop, confronted the employee and handed him over to Madhavaram police.Based on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested Nallathambi. He was produced before a magistrate's court and remanded in judicial custody.
